IT4Automation took on the landlord network for a major public-sector and critical-services development in the City of London: three managed office buildings and 44 floors on one network.
The 2026 take-on covers two Critical National Infrastructure tenants and multiple commercial tenants, with controlled remote maintainer access, condition and cyber threat monitoring, technical support and network maintenance.
At a glance
- 44 floors: two Critical National Infrastructure tenants and multiple commercial tenants on one network.
- 50 switches: a 4 x 10GbE backbone and a resilient, segmented topology with rapid recovery and an HA firewall cluster.
- 2,400 access ports across the three buildings.
- 24/7 monitoring: network availability, condition and cyber security.
- Full service to a documented, supported baseline.
The situation
In 2026, as part of a new-build project, IT4A was engaged to design and implement an integrated, high-availability landlord network to service, maintain and remotely support 9 critical building systems across three managed office buildings.
The buildings house two Critical National Infrastructure tenants alongside multiple commercial tenants, all served by one network. IT4A supports the network infrastructure; the specialist building systems contractors keep responsibility for their own applications and field equipment.
What we did
IT4A delivered the landlord network end to end:
- Full OT infrastructure discovery.
- Network design to the NCSC Cyber Assessment Framework (CAF).
- Delivery, testing and documentation.
- Contractor access with MFA, plus logging.
- Condition and cyber monitoring.
- Backup.
The work was delivered by NPPV3 and SC-cleared engineers.
The result
The property team has a documented baseline, a single technical point of ownership for infrastructure incidents, and an evidence-based risk register feeding lifecycle and service-charge planning.
Visibility: the infrastructure was discovered, documented and is monitored. Control: contractor access runs through MFA with logging. Assurance: the network is designed to NCSC CAF, backed up and run to a documented, supported baseline.
Where it landed
The three buildings are now supported under a recurring managed service, with quarterly risk and lifecycle reporting to the property team. It is the model behind our landlord networking service and part of our wider approach to operational technology assurance for managed buildings.
Start with one building
If you manage office buildings with demanding tenants, a one-building OT infrastructure risk review is a low-risk place to start. To talk it through, get in touch.
